Animal Waste Stations

Landover Hills was one of the first towns in Maryland to implement pet waste stations. There are nine stations located throughout town, each equipped with doggie bags and disposal bins. They are free to use and helps keep the town and the Chesapeake Bay healthier and cleaner.

Lost & Found Pets Public Microchip Scanner Station

If you find a lost dog or cat, you may use the public microchip scanner station to check whether the pet has a registered microchip.

The scanner is available to the public:

  • 24 hours a day
  • 7 days a week

  • Go to the official search tool: Open the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup.
  • Type the number: Enter the 9, 10, or 15-digit microchip number into the search bar without spaces or dashes.
  • it will display: The Registry Name: The company that manages the chip (e.g., HomeAgain, AKC Reunite, PetLink). The Contact Status: Whether the chip is active and registered. The Company Phone Number: The customer service line for that specific registry.
  • Contact the Registry to Reunite the Pet Call the listed registry: If you found a lost pet, call the registry company provided by the search results. Give them the chip number: The company will look up the owner's private file in their secure database. Wait for them to connect you: The registry company will directly call or text the owner to let them know their pet has been found.

 

Many pets are microchipped, and a quick scan may help reunite pets with their owners without needing to transport the animal to a shelter or veterinary office.

  • Aggressive
  • Sick
  • Unsafe to handle

The Town of Landover Hills does not operate an animal shelter or animal holding facility.

Animals that require pickup, impoundment, medical assistance, or emergency response should be reported directly to Prince George’s County Animal Services.  Please see below for important numbers and information
